New to student benefits? Here's what you need to know.

Alumo works with your student union, association, or institution to build and manage your student benefits and wellness solutions. We're not an insurance company you sign up with directly — we're the team your school partners with to make sure your plan actually works for you, from coverage design to claims to finding a provider near you.

It's a health and dental plan built specifically for students, usually organized through your student union, association, or institution. It typically covers things a provincial health plan doesn't — like extended health and dental care, prescription drugs, mental health support, vision care, and more — so you're not paying full price out of pocket for the everyday stuff.

Most students are automatically enrolled as part of their tuition or student fees — so there's a good chance you're already covered without having to do anything. You'll typically have a set Change-of-Coverage and Opt-Out Period each year if you already have coverage elsewhere (like through a parent's or partner's plan).

Coverage varies, but most plans include a mix of extended health and dental care, prescription drugs, mental health services, vision care, and sometimes extras like travel coverage or legal support. The fastest way to see exactly what's included for you is to look up your specific school or association's plan.

Yes. Since international students aren't always eligible for provincial health coverage, Alumo offers a plan that covers basic health-care services like hospitalization and physician visits. Coverage depends on your school, so check to see if yours offers a plan for international students.
